Seriously Injured Veteran

You will qualify if you have received a lump sum benefit under the Armed Forces and Compensation Scheme within tariff levels 1 - 8 (inclusive) and the Secretary of State certifies that you have a permanent and substantial disability which causes inability to walk or very considerable difficulty in walking. You will need to produce a certification letter from the Service Personnel and Veterans Agency.

You will also qualify if you have been awarded a lump sum payment under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme and you have a 'Reasons for Decision Letter' stating the tariff levels of all the injuries that compensation is awarded for and a description of those injuries. If this letter states that you have been awarded compensation for an injury (or injuries) under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme within tariff levels 1-8 then you will be automatically eligible for the Scotland-Wide Free Bus Travel Scheme but only if the injury suffered can be cross referenced to the descriptors within the AFCS Injuries Table as supplied by the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme.

Please note that a War Disablement Pension (without the mobility supplement) does not form part of the eligibility criteria and will not qualify you for free bus travel.
