Data Protection

As the Accord scheme will be processing your personal data, Law requires that we comply with the Data Protection Act 1998. This means that we have a responsibility under Law to process your personal data fairly and lawfully, and according to the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998. This means that your data will be held securely and can only be used for the purpose of administering or providing the services you have asked to hold within your Accord card. As noted on the Accord Scheme home page, information held within the microchip of the Accord card is maintained securely, with an electronic barrier partitioning one service from another. Therefore a service provider will only be able to look at the relevant section of the microchip within an Accord card, in order to provide their service to the cardholder. For example a bus operator will only be able to view sections of the microchip within an Accord card which relate to travel.

Here are a few things the Act requires us to tell you:

3. For what purposes is the personal data being collected?

Administration of the Accord Scheme, including the identical replacement of your card, should it become lost or stolen; the security of the Accord Scheme, including the verification of who you are, should you report your Accord card as lost/stolen or request a replacement Accord card.

Provision of the services that you have applied to be held within your personalised Accord card (e.g. school catering, electronic purse). Also informing you of any improvements or changes to these services, as well as informing you of new services, as they become available.

Direct marketing and promotion of goods, which may be applicable or of interest to you.

We also may send you voluntary questionnaires from time to time in order to gain your valued feedback and opinions on Accord related products and services.

4. In addition, we believe you may find the following information of interest:

We will only process data which is adequate, relevant and not excessive in relation to the purposes for which it is being processed.

We will ensure that the data processed is accurate and kept up to date, where necessary.

We will only keep your data for as long as you require Accord card services.

You have the right to access your personal data by application in writing, along with a cheque or postal order for £10, made payable to ACC. Requests and fee to be sent to Accord Card Office, Business Hub 17 , 3rd Floor North,Marischal College ,Broad Street, Aberdeen, AB10 6BA.

You also have the right to request that processing of your personal data be ceased for the purpose of direct marketing. Requests in writing to Accord Card Office, Business Hub 17 , 3rd Floor North,Marischal College ,Broad Street, Aberdeen, AB10 6BA. If you have Young Scot membership, we will also share your information with Young Scot, where it will be used for administration and service provision.
