Proof of Age
Legislation has made it an offence for retailers to sell products, restricted by law, to a minimum age group. Such products include tobacco, fireworks, alcohol, lottery tickets, lighter fuels, video sales and rentals, solvent based glues, air guns and knives, butane, certain games magazines, tickets to certain cinema films and since the 5th November 2004 the sale of spray paints to under sixteens.Over 330 retail outlets in Aberdeen have an Accord Card Reader provided by the Police or through Trading Standards, to make sure they do not unwittingly sell any age-restricted products to children who are not entitled to them.
Your can use the Accord Card to prove entitlement to certain goods and services.
If you are between 11 and 26 years of age, you can apply for the new Accord/National Entitlement Card, which now has the PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) hologram on it.
One side of the card has the Accord design and the other side the National Entitlement design.
The PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) hologram means you can use it as a proof-of-age card across the whole of the UK.
