Access to Leisure on the Accord Card

Access to Leisure added to the Accord Card

The way in which you can confirm your entitlement to membership of the Access to Leisure scheme is changing.

From mid September, your entitlement will start to be held on the Accord card. This is part of a wider project to upgraded the smartcard technology used by Accord. It is also part of the Scottish Executive’s National Entitlement card programme.

If you are one of the 40,000 older and disabled citizens of Aberdeen, who currently have an Accord card for your Scotland–wide free bus travel and you currently have a valid Access to Leisure paper pass, then you will be re-issued with the new upgraded version of the Accord card in September 2007.

You will still retain your Scotland–wide free bus travel entitlement, but your Access to Leisure membership will now be loaded onto your Accord card - saving the trouble of having to carry two cards in your purse or wallet.

When you receive your new upgraded Accord card. You can start using it as your proof of membership to the Access to Leisure scheme.

All the leisure sites from the indoor sports centres, outdoor centres, swimming pools and golf course accept Access to Leisure. They will be able to read your Accord card electronically with a special card reader, which confirms if you have a valid membership.

Leisure sites that issue the pass are supplied with card readers for enabling the entitlement on the card.

Should you have any further questions  or require more information, please contact the Accord Office on 0845 345 2789 between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00.
