

Access to Leisure Scheme
What is Access to Leisure?
Making sport and leisure available to everyone is at the core of the Access to Leisure scheme which is available to residents of Aberdeen City that fulfil one of the following two conditions:
- Aged 60 years and over.
3 months Access to Leisure membership is awarded if you are in receipt of:
- Contribution based Job Seeker Allowance
6 months Access to Leisure membership is awarded if you are in receipt of:
- Asylum Seeker *
- Attendance Allowance
- Bereavement Allowance
- Carers Allowance *
- Council Tax Benefits *
- Disability Living Allowance
- Employment and Support Allowance
- Guardians Allowance *
- Impaired Hearing/ Visually Impaired
- Home Education *
- Housing Benefit *
- Long Term Incapacity Benefit *
- Short Term Incapacity Benefit*
- Income Support *
- Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
- Contribution Based Job Seeker Allowance
- Income Base Job Seeker Allowance *
- Learning Disability
- Physical Disability
- Severe Disablement Allowance *
- Widowed Parents Allowance *
- Working Tax Credit *
* Receipt of any of these benefits may entitle you to Family Membership which allows your spouse/partner and/or children to also have Access to Leisure Membership. Current proof of entitlement MUST be provided.
Lifetime membership is awarded if:
- You are 60 years of age (and over)
How to apply for Access to Leisure?
If you are a resident of Aberdeen City and already have an Accord Card
Access to Leisure is carried on your Accord/National Entitlement Card. If you already have an Accord Card you can join the scheme and have your Access to Leisure membership added to your card at one of the following sites:
- Customer Service Centre, Marischal College
- Woodside Access Point
- Mastrick Access Point
- Kincorth Access Point
- Central Library and any of the branch and community libraries
The membership is available on your Accord Card immediately after it was added and you need to bring the following documents when applying to have Access to Leisure added to your Card:
- Your Accord Card
- Proof of residency (this can be a recent utility or telephone bill not older than 3 months)
- Proof of eligibility for Access to Leisure e.g. a benefit award letter
If you are a resident of Aberdeen City but have not yet an Accord Card
If you would like to join the scheme but have not yet an Accord Card, you can apply for your Accord Card and Access to Leisure membership at one of the following locations. Please note that you must apply in person and that the person in receipt of the benefit, allowance or eligibility criteria must complete the application form as the main cardholder.
- Customer Service Centre, Marischal College
- Woodside Access Point
- Mastrick Access Point
- Kincorth Access Point

Central Library and any of the branch and community libraries (please note that libraries cannot accept application forms for young people aged 11 -26 years of age)
To apply for your Accord Card and Access to Leisure membership please bring the following documents with you:

A current, colour passport photograph (please note , if you apply for Family Membership we require a photograph for each member of the family).

Proof of residency such as a telephone or utility bill no older than 3 months.

Proof of your eligibility for Access to Leisure e.g. your current benefit award letter .
