What can the Accord Card be used for?
The Accord Card is a secure and discrete way to carry various services and memberships on a single card.
The Accord card provides the following services and membership:
- Travel Concessions,
- Library Membership,
- Access to Leisure (A2L),
- Sports Passes,
- Cashless Catering, Vending and Free School Meal Entitlement,
- Young Scot Membership,
- Discounts,
- ,
- National Entitlement Card.
When your card is issued, you will be advised which services your card contains. As we add additional services, to the Accord card. We will advertise these locally and if you accept direct marketing from us, we will contact you by letter.
Each service provided via the Accord card has its own Terms & Conditions. For example, if you are aged 60 and would like to add Access to Leisure to your card you will need to provide proof of entitlement. Pay the current fee for the service before it can be added to your Accord card.
Some of the items held on the Accord card have their own expiry date. However, the Accord card itself does not expire. Take care of your card and it will last for many years.
Renewing a Service on your Accord card.
How to renew a service on your card.
Step One: Take your Accord card to the location where you would normally obtain that product or service, along with the appropriate money, and/or continued proof of your entitlement to that service (if it is required).
Step Two: The service provider will then 'enable' that product or service within the chip of your card, and add a new expiry date.
Step Three: Once your card is 'enabled' you can continue to receive that product, or service via your Accord card.
Occasionally, a service provider may require to 'disable' their service within your card. However, they will not take your card from you and keep it. As each Accord card is the property of the cardholder.
Potential Future Developments.
The Accord card is a citizen's card and not just a council card. We have identified a wide range of potential services to include in our future development plan, such as:
- Payment for bus journeys
- Payment for on-street car parking and ACC indoor car parks
- Taxi concession
- Park'n'Ride payments
- A variety of leisure memberships, such as the Theatre Club Membership
- Use of the card as a voluntary proof of age
- Participation in a city wide loyalty scheme
- Secure access to a number of Council properties
- Electronic Purse - The Accord card has the capability to carry money in the form of an 'electronic purse'. This means that money can be loaded and stored securely on the card, until the cardholder wishes to spend it. It is hoped to make facilities available to load money onto the card in venues such as sports centres, libraries and retail outlets.
When these become available we will advertise these locally, and if you accept direct marketing from us we will contact you by letter.
